Foi a 67ª "novela das oito" exibida pela emissora. Escrita por Sílvio de Abreu, Sérgio Marques e Vinícius Vianna, dirigida por Flávia Lacerda, Gustavo Fernandez e Natália Grimberg, com direção geral de Carlos Araújo, Luiz Henrique Rios e Denise Saraceni. Foi produzida pelo núcleo de Denise Saraceni. Contou com Glória Pires, Tony Ramos, Fernanda Montenegro, Cláudia Abreu, Irene Ravache, Lima Duarte, Leopoldo Pacheco, Marcello Antony, Camila Pitanga, Vera Holtz, Alexandre Borges, Marina Ruy Barbosa, Carolina Ferraz, Pedro Paulo Rangel, Reynaldo Gianecchini, Cláudia Raia, Paolla Oliveira, e Cauã Reymond nos papéis principais. Em junho de 2009, a trama foi cotada para substituir Senhora do Destino no Vale a Pena Ver de Novo. Porém a emissora desistiu de reprisar a trama, por razão da censura que o Ministério da Justiça estava impondo.
